DISQUIET:
Tightrope is a characteristically beautiful and intriguing, in equal parts, album from Michel Banabila, the Rotterdam-based musician. It begins with tension somewhere between the work of film composers Carter Burwell and Bernard Herrmann, and then unfurls into something graceful and glorious. (Marc Weidenbaum).

SUBJECTIVISTEN:
Banabila serveert hier 8 stukken, die balanceren op het koord tussen ambient, lichte drones en neoklassiek. Zijn elektronische composities worden in twee tracks op fraaie wijze ingekleurd door Maarten Vos (cello), Oene van Geel (viool, altviool, 5-snarige viool, trombone) en tevens de gevierde muzikant Jeff Greinke (synthesizers, elektronica), waarmee Banabila eerder al de single “Latitude And Longitude” heeft gemaakt. De muziek die Banabila voor zijn nieuwe album heeft gemaakt is uiterst biologerend en trekt als een spannende film voorbij. In het tweede stuk “Dusk To The Sky”, van ruim 7 minuten, schuift Greinke aan en krijgt de muziek een donkerder tintje. Banabila levert hier weer een groots en meeslepend album af!
